The big day has finally arrived for fans of the IKEA home furnishings brand – the huge new store coming to Chantilly officially has an opening date.
IKEA HQ has announced that the store – located at 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center Drive – will open next Thursday, June 18.
“We’re so proud to be celebrating 40 years in the greater Washington region, and opening IKEA Chantilly is just another meaningful step in our journey to be more accessible to the many people,” said Rob Olson, interim CEO of IKEA U.S.
The brand will now have seven IKEA locations in the greater DC area, including several smaller plan-and-order stores.
As The Burn has been reporting since last fall, the new store has taken over space that used to be part of the Dulles Expo Center.
It will be 107,000 s.f. and feature more than 7,700 products with more than 4,000 of them available for immediate purchase and takeaway.
Of utmost important to the many foodies in the region, the new IKEA will also have the iconic Swedish cafeteria featuring favorites such as meatballs, hot dogs, and veggie dogs.
