The news is already buzzing around Loudoun County – a new Irish Pub is coming to downtown Leesburg and it has got a famous restaurant family behind it.
Today, Kathleen, Evan, and Meaghan Malone announced that they had closed a deal to purchase the properties at 5 North King Street and 7 North King Street.
The trio are the wife, son, and daughter-in-law of Kevin Malone – a well-known restaurateur who passed away in 2023.
Kevin Malone was an owner of such well known establishments as the Tuscarora Mill Restaurant aka Tuskies (Leesburg), Magnolia’s at the Mill (Purcellville), South Street Under (Leesburg), and the Fireworks Pizza restaurants (Leesburg, Arlington).
The properties the Malones have bought on King North King Street are the current home of the Downtown Saloon and – back in the day – Payne’s Biker Bar.

The Downtown Saloon will continue to operate until July 4 and then close its doors. That’s when the Malones will get to work renovating the space.
They envision turning the space into a traditional Irish pub serving up Guinness, Irish whiskey, and a menu of Irish-inspired pub fare.
The details – including the name of the future pub, the items on the menu, and the beer and drink lineup – are still being worked out.
They are aiming to get the work all done this summer and be ready to open their doors sometime this coming fall.
It’s going to be a busy time. Members of the Malone family are also working on opening the new Maggie’s Corner Cafe coming to Purcellville later this summer.
