It’s been years since we last reported on it, but now we have new information on a planned restaurant and retail center in Loudoun County.
Longtime residents of the South Riding area may recall the ill-fated plans for the Avonlea project near the intersection of Route 50 and Pinebrook Road.
What was once a large One Loudoun-like center was dramatically scaled back as the economy and retailing changed in the late aughts and post-pandemic era.
In 2022, we told readers that a portion of the Avonlea property was still earmarked for retail – and now four years later, we have new details on this development.

According to the commercial real estate firm Rappaport, area residents can expect a new center called Tall Cedars Junction to be built at the corner of Pinebrook Road and Tall Cedars Parkway.
The plans call for four buildings on the site. One is envisioned as an apparent drive-thru restaurant, while the other three would have a mix of restaurant and retail/service tenants.
There would also be space for what the developers see as a possible rooftop brewery with an outdoor patio.

It’s important to note this vision isn’t necessarily how the project will come together in the future, but it shows what the developers would like to see happen and the types of tenants they will be pursuing.
We’ll keep an eye on Tall Cedars Junction as it moves forward and keep you posted on the latest.
