A beloved downtown Leesburg bookstore is getting ready to make a big move – into the larger space immediately next door.
This week, Birch Tree Books – which is currently located at 11 West Market Street – announced it will be taking over the adjacent space at 9 West Market Street and moving there in the coming months.
That’s the former home of District Hemp Botanicals.
The Foliage Plant Shop, which shares space with Birch Tree, will be moving to the new location as well.
According to the team at Birch Tree, the new store will be larger and better able to accommodate both their book selection as well as as the many book clubs that use the space.
We’re told the extra room and fewer steps ups and step downs will also make the store more accessible to all customers.
Work renovating the new space should get underway soon and the owners of Birch Tree are hoping to be ready to open the store by October.
Meanwhile, the current Birch Tree store remains open and operating as usual until it’s time for the move.
