There’s been some progress to report on a long-planned new hotel and retail center proposed for Loudoun County. We’re talking about the Liberty at Russell Branch project.
Way back in 2023, we told readers about plans for a new hotel and possibly two restaurants on a parcel of land behind the Lowe’s Home Improvement store on Russell Branch Parkway. It’s the vacant land between the Lowe’s and the movie theater at the Village at Leesburg.
Now, fast forward three years and the Leesburg Town Council has voted to approve the needed applications for the plans to move forward.
In updated filings with the town, the plans for a hotel are still intact, but now, rather than two restaurants, it appears the application calls for two buildings that could have multiple retail tenants in them.
As you can see in the imagery, the retail buildings – which could have restaurants, shops, or service providers – would be built in front of the hotel.
This is all still preliminary and there are no official tenant names attached to any of the spaces – but the fact that the Town of Leesburg has given the green light is a noteworthy step.
